JCCSC has received a community grant from the Mississippi State Department of Health. Monies from the grant are to be used by the Coalition to prevent tobacco use, encourage tobacco cessation and eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke among youth and adults in Jackson County.
Projects:
- "Freedom from Smoking" tobacco cessation support class. Hurley, MS
(location and times TBA) - Family Fun Day - June 28th, MGCCC - Jackson County Campus
- Prevention Billboards - "One ounce of Prevention is worth one pound of Cure."
- Educational E-newsletters - sign up for our e-newsletter now
- Community Service Program - educational program for teens with tobacco citations.
The Statistics:
Each year, Mississippi spends $719 million on healthcare costs associated with tobacco use. The goal of the Mississippi State Department of Health and Jackson County Community Services Coalition is to improve the health of all Mississippians through the elimination of tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke.
