Children in Jackson County are Suffering.
You Can Ease the Pain.

by Jaimee Goad Bishop - Public Relations

Many times when we witness injustice prevailing in horrifying situations like abuse, disaster, famine, and poverty, we think to ourselves that we need to do more to help unfortunate people in our town, in our nation, in the world. The same thoughts about donating money to local charities and donating our time to civic organization surface, but how often do we really follow through on the invitation? Now is the right time to finally make that commitment, because there are hundreds of innocent children right here in Jackson County needing you to bring light to their lives. These children are either abused, neglected or both by the people they call their parents. The children range in ages from newborn to teenagers, and without a person to trust, most of them feel stuck, unloved, and hopeless.

Court Appointed Special Advocates or CASAs are trained volunteers who are appointed by the judge to be the voice to abused and neglected children in the court system. It is such an important job and a highly satisfying experience for all of us who do take the time to open our hearts to these unfortunate children. Without a CASA, many of these children would simply fall through the cracks, drop out of school, never have a family to care for them, and become yet another statistic.

Right now, we have 21 volunteers working with CASA. These special individuals come from all walks of life and their reasons for volunteering are as unique as children they serve, but they all share one common passion - when they saw an injustice, they did something about it. You can too! Contact us today to learn more.
